FEBRUARY

2: The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation Regular Commission Meeting.  Meetings are held monthly at the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation Building (auditorium), 1801 N. Lincoln, Oklahoma City, OK at 9:00 am.

2: Groundhog Day.

7: The National Wildlife Turkey Federation, Green County Chapter Annual Banquet and Auction will be held at the Cherokee County Community Building, Tahlequah. For more information contact Roy Langston at (918) 456-7565.

7: The 2009 European Pheasant Hunt. We will start with breakfast. There will be pheasants flying everywhere. For those of you that have been before you know what a great shoot this is. For those of you who have not done a pheasant shoot it is hard to believe how much fun we have. About every 12 to 15 birds a horn will blow allowing everyone to move one station. Bring plenty of shells. We will have lunch while the birds are being cleaned, last year we had elk chili. The cost of the hunt will be $200.00 which will include a chance to win a new shotgun. 12 – 15: Oklahoma Tackle Show at the State Fairgrounds (Travel & Transportation Building, Cox Pavilion, Carriage Hall). Show Times: Thursday: 5 p.m. - 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday: 10 a.m. - 9 p.m.; Sunday: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. "Get hooked" at the 2009 Oklahoma Tackle Show! The 30th annual Oklahoma Tackle Show remains the largest retail fishing tackle show in the Southwest. For years, families from Oklahoma and surrounding states have come to see an array of show exhibitors representing fishing tackle, boats, outfitters, resorts, fishing guides and much more! Plus, enjoy free parking and admission to the Oklahoma Hunting Pavilion. At the Oklahoma Tackle Show, there are 1,001 ways to learn and participate! Hear from some of the best fishermen in the world and see how they can help you catch more fish, see one of the world's most valuable displays of antique fishing equipment, marvel at some of the hungriest, meanest bass you've ever seen at the Oklahoma Bass Tubs, and even catch the best retriever dogs in Oklahoma in action! Have the time of your life at the Oklahoma Tackle Show!

16: President's Day - State Offices Closed.

14: Valentine's Day.

21: The Annual Pawhuska Trout Derby will be at daylight. 

27 & 28: Stars Over the Wichitas Tour at the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge. the public is invited to participate in an evening with the stars. Participants will search and locate major constellations and other heavenly bodies with assistance from an amateur astronomer. Bring your own optics, or view the night skies through a 13" Dobsonian telescope. The two-hour program begins 30 minutes after sunset. Participants should meet at the Boulder/Lost Lake picnic area entrance gate. For reservations, which are required, may be made by telephoning the Visitor Center at (580) 429-2151. A $5 reservation fee per participant is collected prior to the program.
 

27: – March 1: Backwoods Hunting and Fishing Expo at the Fairgrounds, OKC. The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation will be on hand to score deer racks and an informational booth. For more information contact Dale Welchel at (405) 769-8816.

28: Field, Forest and Stream Exhibit closes at the Oklahoma History Center. Show your hunting or fishing license and receive a dollar off admission through the end of the exhibit.

28 & March 1: NatureWorks Art Show at the RENAISSANCE Tulsa Hotel & Convention Center (6808 South 107th East Avenue (71st and US-169)), Tulsa. Show run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $5.
