HIGHLIGHTS OF HUNTING REGULATION CHANGES

The following are brief descriptions of regulation changes for 2008-2009 seasons. Although this section is a handy reference, you still must be familiar with all laws that apply to a particular season. For more details, please consult the appropriate regulations in this publication.

• Deer archery season limit has been increased to six (6) deer, which may include no more than two (2) antlered deer.

• The January 1-15 portion of the deer archery season is no longer antlerless only.

Muzzleloaders using electronic-ignition are now legal firearms.

Elk hunting opportunities have expanded.

Additional ATV restrictions may be forthcoming on Three Rivers and/or Honobia Creek WMAs. See wildlifedepartment.com for more information.

Effective Nov. 1, 2008, the Non-Resident 5-Day hunting license may be used to take pheasant.

Effective Jan. 1, 2009, residents may purchase a 5-year hunting or combination license.

Apprentice licenses may now be purchased by residents 10 years old and older.

It is illegal to use a computer to assist in hunting.
