Project WILD is "Wildlife in Learning Design" – an award-winning wildlife education program emphasizing awareness, appreciation and understanding of wildlife and natural resources. It is an exciting curriculum that helps teachers and youth leaders teach math, science, social studies, art, language arts and physical education while teaching about the importance of our environment.

The core of Project WILD are two K-12 activity guides with over 150 activities. The guides are presented in a lesson-plan format which help incorporate wildlife-related concepts into the classroom curriculum or youth group programs. The activity guides are distributed during six-hour, hands-on workshops designed to explain how activities can be integrated into an existing curriculum or program. A minimal fee is charged for the workshop. Several workshops are offered each year for college credit at many of Oklahoma's colleges and universities.

In Oklahoma, Project WILD is conducted by the University of Central Oklahoma and sponsored by the Department of Wildlife Conservation. The workshop meets staff development credit requirements for teachers and has something to offer everyone – from the high school math teacher to the grade school music teacher and for 4-H, Camp Fire, Boy Scout and Girl Scout leaders. It also meets credit requirements for day care center in-services. Since Project WILD started in our state, over 15,000 educators have been trained.
